Printing
History: History of Printing is too old and it is
started from China since 200 B.C. People used carved wood blocks for text and image
printing. In 1400 it has reached in Europe via Islamic world. This printing
technique is used usually for Holy images and Playing Cards. In 1439 Gutenberg,
a German, first used this terminology of printing in a law case in Strasbourg. During
the early decades, German printing predominates. More books are published in
Germany than anywhere else. The first printing press is found in 1461 in Italy. Oxford
University has also started the printing in 1478. The printing has established
their roots in all over Europe by the end of 1600. In 1498 the first paper mill
has been established in England.
Offset Printing: Through
this printing process image transferred to a rubber blanket by metallic plate and
then transfer to paper. This method is used today and has many advantages on
other forms of printing, especially when we require high quality of printing
image.
Offset printing used
4 color process known as CMYK (Cyan Megenta Yellow Kblack key). Offset printing also known
as Offset Lithography and widely used printing technique in which the inked image
on a printing plate is printed on a rubber blanket and then transferred to a paper or other material. Offset printing, as a development of lithography, is based on the principle that water and grease do not mix, so that a greasy ink can be deposited on printing areas of the plate, while non printing areas, which hold water, reject the ink.
